An absolutely beautifully done, high quality, hard covered,
coffee table type book by photographer Paul Bowen, that
you will be proud to share and display, and will never
put down. These are some of the most incredible
aviation photographs you will ever see. Every
page is a full cover masterpiece depicting the energy
and awe that has inspired each of us into the world
of aviation.
Volume
1 is heavy on business type jets with additional sections
on sport planes and helicopters. Volume 2 also
includes many pages of light jet and commercial aircraft
but then adds large sections on warbirds (especially
P-51s), sportplanes, and a section entitled "The
pilot's point of view".
Personally,
if I could just have one, I'd choose volume 1.
But it would be a hard decision. Every page in
each is absolutely stunning. Get yourself one
or both of these books. It's what you want for
Christmas.
From the preface:
.....Paul Bowen shoots so often from the tail-gunner's
position of a World War II B-25, that shots like the
one on Air to Air's cover have become a signature specialty.
He sits on the edge, thousands of feet up, strapped
in and sighting through a lens. His headset and
microphone connect him to the B-25's pilot as the pilot
relays direction to the crew of the airplane being photographed.
As the target plane gets closer, Paul directs them with
hand signals.....
